Welcome to Beacon ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using Beacon at www.joinbeacon.ai (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Beacon. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Platform. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. Account Registration

You may create an account using an email address and password, or via a third-party OAuth provider (e.g., Google). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at legal@joinbeacon.ai if you suspect unauthorized use.

You may not create accounts using automated means, impersonate others, or use a username that is offensive, misleading, or violates third-party rights.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Beacon to:

Post content that is hateful, threatening, harassing, or discriminatory.
Impersonate any person or entity.
Distribute spam, malware, or other harmful content.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform.
Interfere with or disrupt the Platform's infrastructure.
Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data without our express written permission.
Use the Platform for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
Manipulate debate outcomes, ratings, or leaderboards through fraudulent means.

4. Debate Content & AI Moderation

Beacon uses AI to moderate, transcribe, and analyze debates. By participating in a debate, you:

Consent to being recorded and having your speech transcribed during debates.
Grant Beacon a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, and display your debate content to provide and improve the Platform.
Acknowledge that AI-generated verdicts, scores, and fact-checks are for entertainment and educational purposes and do not constitute professional advice.
Understand that debate recordings and summaries may be viewable by other users per the Platform's visibility settings.

5. Virtual Currency & Wagering

Beacon may offer virtual coins, betting features, and prize pools. These are entertainment features only. Virtual currency has no real-world monetary value, cannot be redeemed for cash, and is non-transferable. Beacon reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate virtual currency features at any time.

Any prize pools or cash rewards offered through sponsored events are subject to separate terms disclosed at the time of the event.

6. Intellectual Property

The Beacon brand, logo, software, design, and original content are owned by Beacon and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of content you create and post, but grant Beacon the license described in Section 4.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Beacon's proprietary content without our prior written consent.

7. Privacy

Your use of Beacon is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review it carefully.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, the Platform, or third parties. You may delete your account at any time via your account settings.

9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BEACON DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

IN NO EVENT SHALL BEACON BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on the Platform and updating the effective date above. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
